IMPLANTS
Implants can be used to replace missing teeth by supporting single teeth, bridges and fixed beams. Dental implants offer a long-lasting solution for your missing teeth. A dental implant is essentially a substitute for a natural root. Each implant is placed into a socket carefully drilled at the precise location of the intended tooth. Sometimes the implant can be placed at the same time as removal of the tooth.
Each implant has a screw-thread on its outer surface so that immediate close contact is achieved with the surrounding bone. This creates an initial stability which is enhanced by further natural growth of bone into microscopic roughness on the implant surface. This process is known as Osseo-integration.
Dental implants have internal retention that allows a variety of components to be fitted. Once fitted, these components provide the foundation for long-term support of crowns or bridges.
Here at LATCHFORD AND LATCHFORD, Nikos places implants for his periodontal patients and those with compromised placement sites. Richard and Jocelyn undertake implant placement together with final restorations.
